Rock Creek Park Run
Today I took an hour and a half for a nice long run. I was needing a little personal time. I wasn't in a hurry so I took my camera along.
As I stretched and prepped for my run, I began to ask myself: What is it I want out of this run? And then I thought: Stop it! I don't want to think or analyze anything right now. I just want to run! So I did that for awhile.
I soon got off the main drag and into Rock Creek Park.
I stopped listening to music and focused on the sound of my own feet striking the ground.
I listened to the water running along the creek as it made it's way to the Potomac River.
I listened to the sounds of life without interruption from the city.
And I listened to myself, eventually, and did a bit of analysis. The verdict: I'm feeling great.
And I love the architecture around DC. Here's a taste:
The Mount Pleasant area is a historic district, and has these wonderful signs documenting the history on nearly every street.
Some of these neighborhoods were wealthier than others. Care to take a guess about this one?
Or this?
And some just had great personality.
The main drag on this part of town. I explored it with housemates yesterday. Looks like some fun nightlife, but nothing too wild and crazy.
I liked the parallel between the landscaped mural and the plans in the office window.
A gorgeous tree not too far from my house.
Brick is such a nice change from the concrete streets of Milano!
Home. At least for this year. And happy to be back.
